Immigration Pathway

Can I use an Ofqual UK.Gov-regulated diploma for immigration purposes?

Ofqual-regulated qualifications are part of the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are widely recognized. However, acceptance for immigration depends on the country’s specific visa and qualification recognition policies.

Are these qualifications accepted by immigration authorities in the UK, Canada, or Australia?

In many cases, yes – especially when supported by official recognition tools such as:

  • UK ENIC (formerly NARIC) for qualification comparison

  • WES (World Education Services) for use in Canada and the U.S.
However, not all diploma types are guaranteed to be accepted for point-based immigration systems. It is strongly recommended to consult the relevant immigration authority.

Can I use a Level 6 or Level 7 diploma to apply for a work visa or skilled migration?

Some countries may consider Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications as evidence of postsecondary education in skilled migration applications, especially when supported by employment experience. Recognition varies by country and occupation list.

Do Ofqual-regulated diplomas meet qualification criteria for Permanent Residency (PR)?

They may contribute to PR points in countries like Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, particularly when assessed through an education credential assessment (ECA). A degree from a university often carries more weight than a diploma, but Ofqual diplomas can still add value.

Can I use an Ofqual diploma to qualify for international teaching, healthcare, or public sector jobs?

This depends on the industry regulations in each country. Some professions (like teaching, medicine, or law) require degrees or licenses specific to that country. However, in fields like business, management, logistics, or IT, diplomas are often acceptable with relevant work experience.

Is a diploma from an Ofqual-recognized body the same as a UK university degree?

Yes and no. While both diplomas and degrees are recognized under the UK’s national framework, a diploma is not the same as a degree. However, it can lead to a degree top-up or strengthen your profile for immigration and employment purposes.

That said, Level 4, 5, and 6 Diplomas are fully compatible with degree-level qualifications in terms of level and academic credits.
